Too Many Ideas After 50? How to Finally Pick One
Oct 18, 2026
I closed thirty nine tabs last month.
Thirty nine. Courses I meant to take. Tools I meant to try. Articles I was "saving for later." Later never came.
Closing them felt like getting my life back.
The tab problem is an idea problem
Every open tab is a decision you haven't made. And they cost you, even sitting there quietly. They whisper "you should be doing this too" all day long.
After 50 most of us aren't short on ideas. We have decades of them. What we're short on is permission to drop most of them.
Shrink the list
Write every idea down. All of them. Get them out of your head.
Now cross out anything that needs money you don't have, skills you'd need a year to learn, or a version of you that doesn't exist yet.
What's left is usually two or three. Pick the one you could start this week.
The rest aren't dead
They're parked. You can come back to them once the first thing is working. That's not giving up. That's an order of operations.
